(iTers News) - Marvell said today its ARMADA® 1500 Series DTV SoC platform -88DE3100- powered Lenovo's new groundbreaking S-Series of Android smart TVs, the latest of its cost-effective smart TV series.

The Marvell ARMADA 1500 Series is a powerful, energy-efficient ultra-scalable and very affordable integrated SOC solution that incorporates high-performing ARM compatible dual-core CPU.

Especially, the chip is designed to deliver PC-like processing power to support robust web browsing with support for Flash and other key technologies.

Its built-in Qdeo® video processing enables an immersive HD and 3D video experience, including scaling, noise reduction, de-interlacing, low bit-rate Internet video enhancement and FRC, or frame rate converter.

Lenovo, one of the fast-growing PC makers, has been closely watching Chinese  smart TV market for years, waiting for the right moment to diversify its product line-up beyond PCs.

Marvell's cutting edge DTV platform emerged as a perfect match for its smart TV initiatives aimed at building a new breed of smart TV that matches PCs in processing power, but features easy-to-use UIs.

Lenovo built S51 and S61 smart TVs around the ARMADA1500 SOC platform. The entry price of the S series smart TV line-up starts at a price of US$700, while the highest model fetching for US$1,500.

Available in 42, 47 and 55 inches, their key features include a sleek, frameless, mirror-like screen, Full HD 1080p resolution, supports for VOD and customized smart TV apps.
