Fabricated with a 14nm chip design rule, the XMM 7560 modem chip comes complete with 4 modes of GNSS, CA, or carrier aggregation, 4x4MIMO antennas, and 256/64QAM, operating in a wide range of radio spectrum from 700MHz to 6GHz.

The rollout came one year after market leader Qualcomm had released its 1Gbps modem chip X16 in February, 2016.

Intel will start to ship the chip sometime in the second half at the earliest.

Unlike Qualcomm that integrates its X16 modem into Snapdragon 835 mobile SoC, Intel will discretely sell the XMM 7560 modem chip.
