(iTers News) - Much-touted curved smart phone Galaxy Round will go for sale tomorrow in Korea. 

SK Telecom and Samsung Electronics said today that they will start to sell a much-anticipated 5.7-nch curved smart phone called Galaxy Round on Oct. 10.

Powered by a 2.3GHz quad-core CPU, the Galaxy Round is the world’s first curved screen smart phone that incorporates a 5.7-inch full HD curved OLED display.

Running on Android 4.3 Jelly Beam OS, the Galaxy Round comes in luxury brown color, weighing 154 grams.

It comes complete with a LTE-A modem chip, NFC, Bluetooth 4.0 bas baseband chip, USB 3.0 interface slot, built-in internal 32GB memory, 13 megapixel rear-facing and 2 megapixel front-facing CMOS image sensor cameras.

Sway to right and left 

The screen is curved like a parabolic mirror with two side edges slightly curving upward.

As the screen gets curved, it comes up with a totally different UI feature from conventional flat screen smart phones, throwing highlights on new innovative, eye-catching UI feature called “Round Interaction”. While playing a music album, for one thing, users can either to jump on the next track, or move back to the previous one  by just slightly swaying the phone to the right and left like a swinging hammock in what the company said is the "Bounce UX Effect'.  The swaying and tilting gesture also reactivates the phone from an idle, sleep mode and pop up data and time information as well as information on unanswered calls and remaining battery time in hat's called as "Roll Effect". For pictures and videos, its Side Mirror feature also enables users to gain access to list of the album content with a left and right tilt.

The large screen size of the GALAXY ROUND provides additional benefits to users. Useful One-Hand Operation features bring a user’s most desired controls closer to a preferred side of the screen.

When users slide its screen page by page, the rounded shape also gives them new user experiences dubbed as round visual effects of as if the discrete pages come looming like one monolithic single integrated panoramic screen.   

It sells for 1.08 million won (approximately US$980) .
