Smart Terrain capability for the Qualcomm Vuforia platform is a breakthrough vision capability that enables a new level of immersion and interactivity in augmented reality gaming experiences.The Smart Terrain demo is powered by PrimeSense’s Capri 3D sensor and OpenNI SDK, provided by PrimeSense, and together presents the 1st mobile platform ever to offer 3D sensing.

Smart Terrain enables users to create their own play space and interact with the physical world in ways never before experienced. It allows game physics to apply to real world surfaces and objects, using the depth image provided by Capri. For example, game characters are able to navigate around, collide and jump over objects or even fall off the edge of a table.

3D sensing makes AR more real, more intuitive, and it makes it truly interactive. 3-D depth allows AR experience like robust and markerless AR for 360 view, an interactions between the virtual and the real worlds, and collision detections and occlusions between real and virtual objects

Smart Terrain will be available to developers in Spring 2014 with support for the PrimeSense Capri depth sensor.
