(iTers News) - Nearly 7 months after it first debuted a USB drive-sized thumb PC that comes complete with a CPU and OS platform to turn a dumb TV box into a smart TV, iPPea Inc. of the U.S. embeds a new set of software stack trademarked as AirPea into the thumb PC.

The implantation of the AirPea is to allow users to control the synchronization between a TV and the USB-sized PC dongle system with their smart phones or tablet PCs, instead of toying with a TV remote controller or a mouse as well as a keyboard

As the AirPea software stack enables users to exploit the UI, or user interface system of their smart phone, or tablet PC to the full, they can interact with a TV with a simple tap of the smart phones touch screen, or a command of voice.

Called as iPPea TV, the USB-sized PC system can be plugged and work in sync with a TV to give users a full range of Android PC user experiences, allowing them to perform many of PC tasks in the same way that they work on a PC.

Once plugged into a TV, for example, the full PC system dongle enables users to get an access to the Internet, work on spreadsheets and word-processing, and play back even HD video contents. The dongle box even enables users to enjoy full smart TV functions on a normal, existing TV set without purchasing a still exorbitantly expensive smart TV.

“AirPea is a special application that is built into our iPPea. We can make use of our hand phone to control a TV. I can use my smart phone as a mouse and keyboard. You can see a mouse cursor moving, according my touch panel here,” said Alan Kan, chief technology officer with iPPea Inc.

“I can select a video that I want to play there and, the volume control can be adjusted on the hand phone. Not only playing a video, but also we can edit a word document on the large screen. I can also control the cursor not only for wring or typing, but do voice input,” added he.

Users can download the AirPea software stack from the Internet.

The iPPea PC dongle system runs on Android 4.0 OS and is powered by a MIPS core-based XBurst CPU from Ingenic Semiconductor, a Chinese fabless chipmaker. The CPU runs on a 1.2GHz, and the iPPea also incorporates 802.11b/g/n, Wi-Fi chip, USB2.0, 4GB storage with support for up to 32GB external storage via a microSD. It has HD video output.
