(iTers News/Video News) - Almost 4 weeks after it launched, Windows 8 OS platform charges its way across a wide range of applications markets from desktop and notebook PCs along the way down to tablet PCs to smartphones.
On the Windows 8 App Star Awards day held on Nov. 9 in Seoul, iTers News randomly interviewed a couple of early adopters and app developers to measure how Windows 8 platform were being received.
Most of interviewees were relatively comfortable with new features of Windows 8 like fluid Metro UI and multi-touch capability.
Yet, one interviewee pointed out that Windows 8 or RT platform isn’t a dedicated OS for a tablet PC, but straddles fences between desktop and tablet PCs, serving both ways.

This cross-market addressable feature calls into question the immediate success of Windows 8 platform on tablet PC market, because the hybrid configuration recommends OEMS and ODMs to build Windows 8 tablets on 10-inch and larger screen.
The large screen optimization is in a sharp contrast with others that are shifting their focus toward 8-inch and smaller screen tablet PCs.
Echoing the remarks, Tom Mainelli, research director with market research firm IDC said that over-sized screen is one of the reasons why he questions the immediate success of Windows RT or 8 on tablet PCs.
