(iTers News) – Automotive markets in emerging economies will keep its growth dynamics up and running through 2017, driving up worldwide automotive sales growth.

To capitalize on the growth catalyst, Freescale Semiconductor, Inc. is aggressively lining up its low-cost, power-efficient, eco-friendly, and highly integrated MCU and other SOC solutions.

The line-up represents Freescale’s efforts to keep pace with what’s shaping up as unstoppable megatrends in global automotive market, -mobility, safety, connectivity, and cleanness.

Freescale believes that the 4 megatrends will drive up worldwide auto sales over the next 5 years.

At a press conference held in Beijing China, Ray Cornyn, vice president, automotive microcontroller division, “After many years of stable growth, we saw roller-coast of demand over the last few years. One of the most important things is that we see the growth in the emerging markets. After Lehman Brothers collapsed in 2008, we have seen most of global automotive market growth has come from emerging market.”

He predicts that emerging markets, especially led by booming demand in BRIC, or Brazil, Russia, China, and India, will continue to propel global automotive sales growth over the next 5 years through 2017, making up the majority of sales growth.

By 2017, global auto sales would top 100 million units every year, and auto sales in China will hit 30 million units per year by the end of this decade, representing 30% of global automotive sales, he forecasts, quoting numbers from market research firm IHS.

Consumers’ strong requirements for automotive consumerization, safety mandate and energy efficiency will be driving growth in electronic contents into cars like MCUs, sensors and other discrete chip solutions, especially boosting up unit contents of MCUs per car by 27% by 2018.

To ride on booming demand in emerging markets, Freescale has specifically designed and lined up three SOC chip solutions for emerging markets.

One of them is one cylinder engine management chip solution –MM912xx812- that packed two single dies in one chip package. Coming complete with S12P, or S12XS MCU and SmartMOS MC33812A, the chip solution is a highly-integrated, low-cost chip solution to control and manage fuel injection and engine throttles, targeting motorcycles, scooters, three wheelers, lawn mowers, , marine engines, and electronic generators.

The chip maker had also MagniV mixed-signal MCU-based S12VR64 window lifter chip solutions up its sleeve for emerging markets. Adding to this low-cost chip solutions for emerging market, Freescale has newly lined up two more new chip solutions that come highly integrated with a 16 bit MagniV MCUs, power supply and analog chips on a single die package.

For example, S12ZVM is a BLDC motor controller chip that is well optimized for fuel, oil, and water pumpers, blowers, HVAC, and wipers.

S12ZVH is another low-cost and a highly–integrated one single die chip solution that controls an entry-level car instrument cluster, coming with no analog discrete chip.
