(iTers News) – Enpirion released EN2300 family of DC to DC high-density integrated power IC solutions in what it said is the industry‘s highest power density device on the market, zeroing in on such applications as telecommunications, enterprises, industrial, embedded computing and storage systems.


Operating on a 12 volt, the EN2300 family consists of 4 different member chips that feature 4, 6, 9 and 15 amperes DC to DC converters.       


At a press conference held in Munich, Germany, Mark Cieri, director of product development and marketing said “We have over 50 design wins already ahead of the launch with key customers globally. We are leader in the space. This will be tripling our market opportunities and this underscores penetration that is incurring the migration from discrete to integrated DC to DC solution.


He also announced a power MOSFET technology for 12V applications in what it said is the world’s fastest ever available in the market using an optimized 0.18 micron LDMOS process technology, which is based its indigenous high-speed transistor structure.


According to him, the release of the two innovative power management chip solutions is to tackle tough technological challenges facing the Industry and Enpirion alike, as market demand is going in the favor of integrated and smaller form factor power system solutions, but with high frequency.


“Since Enpirion was after following challenges, we believe the market is migrating. We like to talk about 3 Hs  (challenges). The challenge is that chips are operating on high frequency, which delivers high density and well-accomplishing high efficiency. This is what we tackle, not just about high frequency, but high density and high efficiency not sacrificing high efficiency,” Mark Cieri added.


Enpirion is a leader of integrated power IC solutions in what the company boasts is the only semiconductor company that got three key technology enablers. With a broad range of patents and IP portfolio, the chip makers has been focusing on miniaturizing DC to DC power system, scrambling to migrate the multi-billion dollar power management market from discrete chips to integrated SOC solutions-centric.


According to Mark Cieri, voltage regulator and power IC market has been growing no more than 4% on average a year since 2008. Yet, Enpriron has far outpaced average market growth, having grown seven times as fast.


Its focus on high-end market segments has paid off. The company has been concentrating on 4 key markets –enterprise, telecommunications, solid state drive and storage system, and industrial and embedded system What these 4 market segments have in common are not only that their market sizes are big, but also they are demanding uncompromised power chip solutions –high-efficiency, high density and high reliability. “Our key market segments demand reduced power losses, high density, smaller space, improving reliability and improving costs,” said director Mark Cieri.                      


Looking forward, he predicts Enpirion’s new 12V MOSFET would triple market opportunity sizes, because this segment will be three times bigger than 5V market in terms of adoption and implementation.
