(iTers News) -The automation and systems research institute of Seoul National University joined hands with an elite member of domestic fashion designers to revolutionize the way that clothing and wardrobe are designed and manufactured.

The research institute demonstrated what’s called as ‘digital clothing suite’ a sort of 3D computer graphic simulation solution, at World IT Show, which runs from today through May 15 at COEX exhibition hall in Seoul, Korea. The solution comes complete with a simulation software algorithm, a systematic CAD system, 3D graphic simulation process, interactive textile editing, and a built-in image rendering system.

In an interview with iTers News, Hae-Won, Kam, director of planning and marketing with digital center of Seoul National University, said “This is software, which is integrated into the world’s best graphic simulation algorithm with systematic CAD. We are aiming for the computer graphic and fashion design markets.”

Added she, “We have revolutionized all the clothing manufacturing system and process with our high-end technology. We offered body generation tool and systematic CAD system, 3D graphic simulation process, interactive textile editing, and a built-in rendering system. Our system can be connected to Bluray recoder. So, it can be used with manufacturing directly. It’s very helpful in reducing producing costs and time.

According to her, the algorithm was developed in 2002 by the country’s best and brightest crop of computer graphic engineers, which are post-gradates with Korea’s most prestigious Seoul National University. Since then, the algorithm has become the industry’s overwhelming phenomenon, as no other software algorithm from all over the world can match this system in performance and accuracy.

Attracted by the attributes of the algorithm, for example, Dreamworks Co., one of Korea’s largest movie producers, has been using the simulation algorithm to generate computer graphics and animation effects.

Since 2007, the center has integrated it with CAD system to help fashion and clothing designers both at home and abroad to use this algorithm for their design and manufacturing works. For example, this algorithm is widely used with fashion design centers with universities across the world.

"We are like a collective team of computer graphic engineers and fashion designers", said director Kam.
