(iTers News) -Haptics technology is a sort of tactile feedback UI, or user interface technology that allows you to feel as if you touch real objects when you toy with the virtual representations on your smart phone screen. To make smart phone UI-the way that people interact with machine- more intuitive, the University of Queens has embedded one bending sensor and one haptic motor into a prototype of flexible screen Android smart phone called as ReFlex .

If you horizontally grab the 6.0 inch flexible screen smart phone with two hands, pop up an e-book on the flexible screen, and then bend back and forth the screen with forces of your two hands to flip through virtual pages, you can feel as if you leap through real paper pages.

That’s the way how the university has built the intuitive UI technology demonstrating how the types of bendable cursor inputs –position-based and force rate-based can combine with haptics actuator to develop new intuitive and immersive UIs.
