LG unveils 8.3-inch 'GPad' tablet
(iTers News) - LG Electronics took the wrap off its first tablet PC model GPad, adding to competitive pressures to hotly-contested global tablet PC market.
Due out at IFA 2013 to be held from Sept. 6 in Berlin, the GPad comes in a 8.3-inch full HD IPS LCD screen, boasting a pixel density of 273 ppi, or pixel per inch.
Running on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean OS, the 8.3-inch GPad tablet comes built with Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 CPU.
It weighs 338 grams, and is 126.5 mm wide, befitting one hand grip.
It is designed to work in sync together with a smart phone. For example, users can activate the ‘QPair’ apps to pair the GPad tablet and their smart phones together to bring up messages and calls they received on the phones to see them on the 8.3-inch GPad screen.
It also features ‘knock-on and task slide’ UX, or user experience apps. The knock-on UX enables user to turn on, or off the GPad by simply tapping two times.
The commercail rollout of the GPad is scheduled for sometime in the 3rd quarter .
