Gemalto, PCS Mobile deliver advanced CJIS compliant access solution
(iTers News) - Gemalto, the world leader in digital security and PCS Mobile, a value added reseller specializing in mobile data products and services for state and local public safety organizations, are joining forces to provide a comprehensive solution for law enforcement agencies to comply with the Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) mandate. Beginning September, 2014, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) will require law enforcement personnel to use advanced, secure, authentication methods to access the CJIS database.
The foundation of the offering is Gemalto's Protiva Defender Suite, a combination of smart cards, physical and mobile tokens (OTP), an authentication server and associated consultancy services, backed by PCS Mobile's experience in providing mobile laptops, professional services and customer education. The solution ensures customers are not only compliant with upcoming CJIS requirements, but are provided flexible technology that can be used for multiple applications (e.g. remote network access, secure email, physical access, etc.) and is scalable to keep pace with PCS Mobile's growing customer base.
As computing and communications devices become smaller in size and increasingly mobile, it is necessary for law enforcement to run criminal background checks from multiple devices, such as rugged yet mobile computers, including laptops, tablets and handheld devices with wireless connectivity. With Gemalto's Protiva Defender Suite, PCS Mobile gives law enforcement agencies the security tools needed to access the information while on the go.
"We provide a full-scale solution that ensures our customers have the security tools and mobile devices they need to access the federal criminal database without interruption," said Kathy Pakkebier, PCS Mobile, President. “Gemalto supports us through the entire process, from consulting and understanding customer needs through product delivery. We look forward to a long and successful collaboration with Gemalto."
"The partnership between Gemalto and PCS Mobile allows law enforcement agencies to get everything they need from one source," said Tom Flynn, Vice President of Identity and Access at Gemalto North America. "From hardware and secure identity to advice and training, we ensure CJIS compliance with less hassle."
