Codenamed Zing, the IEEE802.15.3e technology is a variation of ultra-fast NFC technology that can rapidly send and receive large amount data consuming just under 100mW.

The technology was developed jointly by research teams of ETRI (Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute) and KETI (KOREA ELECTRONICS TECHNOLOGY INSTITUTE).

Coming in a slim form factor of 6mm X 6mm, the new chip module can transfer data of 3.5Gb per second, which amounts to sending a 1GB movie or video file in a matter of 3 seconds.

Applications are varying from IoT to factory automation to smart factory which all require low power consumption and fast wireless data transfers.

The Korean wireless chip module maker is currently in talks with its partners and global companies to supply its new product to working on new applications using the new module with its partners.
