(iTers News) - CSOT broke ground in Wuhan, Huebi province to build a 6th generation of AMOLED fab. Scheduled to come online in the second quarter of 2019, the fab will start a mass production by 2020 fabricating small and medium size foldable and flexible OLED panels at a monthly capacity of 45,000. CSOT will invest US$ 5billion in a total capital spending.

CSOT or China Star Optoelectronics Technology is a TFT-LCD making subsidiary of TCL.


CSOT’s step into OLED fabrication dates back in 2016 when the LCD panel maker joined hands with Tianma to establish Guangdong Juhua Printing Display Technology (Johua Printing) a joint venture for OLED printing technology developments.


CSOT is also eyeing large-size OLED TV market, as construction of its 11G hybrid fab facility for OLEDs and LCDs is now under way. Slated to come online in 2019, the 11G hybrid is designed to produce LCD as well as OLED panels
