Developed by Xiaomi’s subsidiary Pinecone, the mobile processor chip has ARM 2.2GHz Cortex-A53 and Mali T860 MP4 GPU at its core.
Following, Apple, Samsung and Huawei, Xiaomi has become the fourth smartphone maker to use its own AP.
When it comes to performance, the chip matches Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 625 and Mediatek’s P20 and P10, which was used to build low-cost smartphones like Samsung’s Galaxy C series and Huawei’s G9 Plus.
Running on Android 7.1 Nougat, Surge S1, the Mi 5c smartphone features a metal uniform design and come in a 5.15-inch JDI display with ultra-thin bezels.
It is embedded with 3GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. Using 2,860mAh battery as power source, the new smartphone comes with a 12-megapixel rear-facing camera and an 8-megapixel front-facing camera. It also supports fast-charging technology. Xiaomi’s Mi 5c will be available in three colors- black, gold, and rose gold.
Xiaomi said the new smartphone will hit the Chinese market with a price of 1,499 yuan or about US$220 on March 3rd, 2017.
