Multiple tests will also be conducted to enhance the data communication speed, leveraging 4G infrastructures through advanced carrier aggregation, MIMO and MPTCP.

“We are confident that the joint-effort will play a key role in developing advanced technologies to benefit Russian’s everyday life,” said Dong Soo Park, executive vice president of the Networks business at Samsung Electronics. “Based on strong 5G and IoT technology, we will help MTS to discover new opportunities for the commercialization of 5G.”

Meanwhile, the cooperation will help MTS to find new market opportunities in network and communications market.

As network requirements like data rates, spectrum bandwidth and battery life vary by diverse IoT use cases, MTS and Samsung will choose the best technology suited for each case.

The two companies will also work together to carve out new opportunities with 5G, as it will play a significant role in providing ultra-fast data communication with low latency and new spectrum efficiencies.

“MTS is preparing for its 5G network service in Russian regions, and believe that signing memorandum with Samsung is an important step on that way. We will build a basis for quick 5G implementation to keep up with growing subscriber needs and changing environment on country’s telecom market. Commercial deployment of new technologies, including an area of IoT, will make it possible for us to occupy new market niche in both corporate and mass market domains.” Said Andrei Ushatskiy, vice president of MTS’s technology.
