(iTers News) - Check Point Software Technologies Ltd., the worldwide leader in securing the Internet, today announced that Check Point’s Next Generation Secure Web Gateway received a “Performance Verified” rating from Miercom, an independent product test center with test services including competitive product analyses and individual product evaluations. This certification recognizes exceptional results in this standardized functional test, where Check Point’s Secure Web Gateway excelled in all elements of testing including web control such as URL classification and coverage, blocking URLs from undesirable and potentially malicious categories, and application control.

Check Point Secure Web Gateway underwent rigorous hands-on evaluation at Miercom’s independent testing labs, alongside two competing products from Websense and Blue Coat. Check Point SWG’s URL Filtering Software Blade classified 91.3% of the one million most popular websites in known categories, exceeding the Websense WSG software platform by 5.6% and Blue Coat Proxy SG300-5 appliance by 13.1%. Furthermore with its Application Control Software Blade, Check Point achieved an application blocking rate of 97.1%, using a sample size of 3,000 unique protocol/application combinations, outperforming its nearest competitor (Websense) by more than 30%.

Check Point’s industry-leading centralized and policy management for Web security was also highlighted as a comprehensive and intuitive interface to create policies and rules to cover nearly all Web security deployments.
