(iTers News) – Just 4 days after it humiliatingly lost in a patent litigation war against Apple on 6 key UI features and design aspects, it seems that Samsung Electronics has emerged hardly unnerved from fiasco.

Defying the August 25 jury verdict that derided it as a copycat, Samsung unveiled two milestone smartphone line-ups with great fanfare at Samsung Mobile Unpacked Event held on August 29 here in Berlin for IFA 2012.-Andorid Jelly Bean-based Galaxy Note 2 and Galaxy Camera and Windows Pone 8-run ATIV S.

Taking the wrap off the two new smart phone line-ups, JK Shin, president with Samsung IT and mobile communications division, appealed to a crowd of 2,300 partners and journalists gathered for the product launch night gala party for Samsung’s strong dedication to creativity and innovation.

“Samsung’s philosophy has always been to continue to provide customers with unique experiences based on best technology and innovation. Regardless of any hindrance, Samsung continue to provide outstanding innovation and unique product that stand out from competition,” stressed JK Shin.

The simultaneous debut of Android OS and Windows Phone 8 smartphone and Windows Phone 8 heralds Samsung’s return to multi OS strategy. It also represents its strategic choice to hedge the risk of its heavy dependence on Android OS with a bet on Windows Phone OS.

The bet on Windows Phone OS will immunize Samsung from Apple’s patents claim on some UI, or user interface features, but comes at the expense of its profitability and creativity.

Falling slave to Windows OS mold

Windows OS is not open source OS, so that Samsung has less to do on its own to create and add something innovative on top of the Windows OS UI layer, getting trapped into Windows OS mold in the way that all PC makers have fallen slave to Windows-Intel duopoly.

Nor it is for free, sacrificing its profitability.

Galaxy Note 2 smartphone is a prime example of how Samsung has been completely free and creative in adding its own innovative flavors and groundbreaking UI features on top of Android OS.

Galaxy Note 2 smartphone comes bigger and more appealing than its predecessor Galaxy Note 1, sporting a 5.5 inch HD super AMOLED screen in what the company said is the industry’s most breathtaking and crystal-clear detailed visual display.

As the screen size taller, it also boasts a 16:9 wide cinema screen ratio aspect, offering immersive and enriched cinema-like video viewing experience.

What really makes it stick out is the recreated and souped-up S Pen functionality, its home-grown and indigenous stylus pen-based breakthrough UI technology that enable users to write down, paint, mark, and scribble down whatever they want to do on the screen.

Recreating UI

True enough, the S Pen UI technology has been an overwhelming attraction that made Galaxy Note 1 a smashing hit across the world, appealing to consumers for its easy-to-use write-down and quick memo features.

Galaxy Note 2 goes further, adding stunningly innovative new ‘Air View’ preview functions. With the ‘Air View’ into action, users don’t need to point its way deeper into the on-screen menus like an email box, image gallery, S Planner, and video lists to see full contents , but just hover the stylus pen over them, and then see whatever is inside immediately hover up on its screen for a quick preview.

"We completely recreated the S Pen UI,“ emphasized president Shin.

Multitasking is anther absorbing feature that attract souls and minds of prospective users.

Available in the recently released Galaxy Note 10.1 tablet PC, the multi-tasking functionality combines together with Popup Note and Popup Play features to allow users to do multi-tasks simultaneously.

For example, users can make a phone call, while scribbling down something worth memorizing, because, when they pull out the S Pen during the phone call, the S Note application automatically pops up on the screen, allowing them to jot down a quick note.

 1.6GHz Quad Core CPU

In addition, the device’s new gesture pad feature, called Quick Command, lets users quickly activate frequently used apps with the S Pen. The command pad appears when a user just swipes upward on the screen with the S Pen button pressed.

Users can quickly send an email, make a call, or search a location as they draw pre-registered marks on the command pad or register a unique mark to allow for quick and easy access.

The Galaxy Note 2 harbors Samsung’s Quad-core Exynos 1.6GHz CPU and HSPA Plus or 4G LTE RF and modem chip, sporting excellent graphic rendering capability. It comes in an option of 16 GB, 32 GB, and 64 GB with an expandable micro SD memory slot.

Powered by an ultra-high density 3,100mAh battery, users can enjoy multimedia content always-on and on the go without suffering from power limitation.

The GALAXY Note II also comes with an 8 megapixel rear-facing and 1.9 megapixel front-facing camera with HD video recording.

It is about to goes for sale sometime in October in major European, Asian, and Middle East markets, coming clad in Marble White or Titanium Gray color options.
