(iTers News) – Google unveiled a souped-up update of its Android OS called as Jelly Bean.

Built on top of Android v.4 Ice Cream Sandwich, the newest OS represents great improvements in the user interface- the way that people interactions with devices

For example, it has a notification function, which alerts users to missed calls and behind-the-schedule status on a scheduled meeting and notifies them to immediately return calls, or shoot back emails.

It also gets more intelligent – intelligent enough not only to predict what characters users would punch in on a keyboard but also to tell in advance how today’s weather would be and how much traffic to expect before they start their day.

Using a natural language speech technology and a knowledge-search engine, its voice-activated search engine gets more knowledgeable and intelligent, too. For example, users can ask a Jelly Bean-running Google device a question, and it speaks back, delivering a precise answer. The voice search engine is powered by Google’s Knowledge Graph.

Google will start an over-the-top roll out of the Jelly Bean OS in mid-July for Galaxy Nexus, Motorola Zoom and Nexus S.

According to Google, more than 400 million Android devices have now been activated—up from 100 million last June. And twelve new Android devices are activated every second—that’s more than 1 million a day.
