LCD panel maker Truly Semiconductors’ Gen 5 LCD fabrication facility in Meishan, Sichuan, China went on line on Dec. 29, 2018. Touted as the first hi-end module type fabrication line, the Gen 5 will have started to produce the first sample products on Dec 31. 3.

About 12.5 yuan has been poured into the Gen 5 line, which will mainly churn out small-and medium-sized panels for car infotaiment system and mobile devices.

It took just one year to complete the construction of the facility since the company broke ground in December 2017.

The Gen 5 is the first phase of Truly’s massive investment plan for flat panel display, or FPD technologies.

Truly plans to invest 31.8 billion yuan to build its Gen 6 OLED fabrication facility in 2019. Ground-breaking for the facility is scheduled for the second half of 2019.
