(iTers News) - As devices like speakers and smartphones today come embedded with more data-heavy features like AI (artificial intelligence) and voice-recognition, demand for faster and high-performing chips for specialized applications are growing.

To keep up with market trends, Intel has introduced Intel Stratix 10,  FPGA, or field programmable gate array chip, which can whip through calculations at blinding speeds – often 10 to 100 times faster than the normal CPU chips that power smart phone phones  and tablet PCs. .


The new chip is the fastest of its kind in the world, boating of 10 trillion calculations per second. I FPGAs differ from standard CPUs as it can be re-programmed on the fly to perform specialized computing.
