(iTers News) -On your lap or hands, it works as a conventional tablet PC, but on the vehicle, it not only doubles as a surround view monitoring system, but also a car navigation system as well as a black box, allowing drives to complement or work it as what’s called an advanced driver assistant system or ADAS.


The device is what ImageNEXT (www.imagenext.co.kr) of Korea will launch at CES 2015 what in the company call said is the world’ first OmniPAD.


The OmniPAD is a sort of all-in-one 7-inch tablet PC that comes integrated with a surround view monitoring system, a car navigation, and a black Box.


Running on Android's 4.4 Jelly Bean OS, it is powered by a 1.6 GHz quad core processor. It also comes with front-and rear-facing cameras, incorporating 2GB RAN, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth modem.


At the heart of the device is its own home-grown indigenous technology which’s called as ‘automatic calibration’ solution that manages the synchronization between the tablet PC and an in-vehicle dashboard equipment.


For example, it can sync with the in-vehicle camera system to work as a surround view monitoring system. It can also work as a forward collision warning system, FCWS, or ADAS.


Founded in 2007, ImageNEXT is a maker of car infotainment system as well as in-vehicle safety and security equipment, including ADAS, car DVR, in-vehicle front-and rear-facing camera system, and surround and corner view system.


Its surround view system and in-vehicle camera equipment system are being supplied as an original option for Renault Samsung Motors, while supplying SsangYong Motors with a camera system.


All combined, the company is now setting its sights higher aiming to carve out niche in the next generation of connectivity car market. Looking forward, the maker also sees new market opportunities in self-driving autonomous car market. On the way toward that goal, ImageNEXT plans to roll out SPM, or smart personal mobility technology and fleet management system by combining telematics technology and cloud service.
